Swimming

We have a 33-metre swimming pool and a 12m teaching pool perfect for our swimming lessons, which are available for ages 4 months or older.

Please note that an Adult over the age of 18 or Parents/Guardian are required to accompany children under 8 years & non-swimmers. Adult : Child ratio enforced & monitored (1:2 Main pool up to 1.25m, Teaching pool 1:3). Inflatable fun sessions are for ages 8 and over.

Public swimming sessions are available throughout the week in both the learner and main pools. Walk-ins are available, however we advise customers book in advance to secure their session. Members and leisure card holders can book up to 8 days in advance and non members 48 hours before their session.

Pool rules apply to all visitors, please review the latest version on poolside. Remember to bring a £1 for lockers (refundable).

Swimming Lessons

Our swimming lesson follow the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme, the leading national teaching syllabus, helping children and adults to learn how to swim in a safe, effective and enjoyable environment.

Swimming lessons are available for all ages: babies (over four months), children, teenagers and adults. If you are entering the syllabus for the first time there will be a FREE assessment with a level 2 qualified instructor to ensure you or your children is in the correct lesson based on existing skills.

There are four specialised stages in the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme:

Pre-School Framework

This is an ideal introduction to water through fun and games for children from 4 months old. Made up of two stages, Adult and Baby and Duckling Awards for toddlers.

Adult & Baby sessions allow you to be in the pool with your child, whilst being guided by the instructors. In the Discovery Duckling and Duckling Awards, your children progress to swimming without you in the water, but guided by our qualified teachers.

From these sessions, children will gain water confidence and foundations as they start their swim journey.

Adult and Baby lessons (4 months – 18 months):

  • Monday – Friday mornings
  • Saturday mornings

Adult and Child lessons (18 months – 36 months)

  •  Monday – Friday mornings
  • Saturday mornings

Ducklings lessons (3 – under 5 years):

  • Monday – Friday mornings and afternoons
  • Saturday and Sunday mornings

Learn to Swim Framework

Suitable for children aged between 4 and 11 years, the seven stages will teach children the fundamentals of swimming and help them to develop into confident and competent swimmers through fun and enjoyment.

Lessons take place throughout the week, Monday – Friday between 3.30pm – 6.00pm, Saturday mornings from 9.00am and Sunday mornings from 9.30pm:

Aquatics Skills Framework

For children who have completed the Learn to Swim Framework this stage helps them to develop existing skills further including synchro, water polo, diving and swimming.

May Crash Course

Book onto our May crash courses, these run over five days and each class is 30 minutes.

Monday 27th – Friday 31st May

  • Pre-school
  • Stage 1 and 2
  • Stage 3 and 4
  • Stage 5

Classes run between 9am – 11am and cost £60 for the 5 days

New Water Safety Course

Book your child onto our NEW 6 week water safety courses. These courses are ideal for those stage 5 and above or children who can confidently swim at least 25 metres unaided.
 
What does the course cover?

Adult Swimming Framework

For older teens and adults that are looking to start swimming these sessions cater for a range of abilities, from non swimmers and nervous swimmers to those that want to build water confidence. These sessions help develop swimming skills and technique.

We run beginners and stroke development lessons for adults:

  • Wednesday evenings
  • Thursday afternoons

Adult Swimming Lessons

Thursday’s at 2.30pm for beginners/non-swimmers in the boom pool. All lessons will run at the swimmers individual pace in a social and friendly environment.

Home Portal

The home portal will be able to view the current status of your child’s progress.

Before you can access the portal you will need to activate your child’s account by logging on below and following the instructions on the screen and validate the data. You will need to know your membership number.

 

Should you wish to cancel your swimming lessons, please complete the following form and a member of the team will be in touch shortly. Please note that a minimum of 14 days notice is required before the next direct debit is due to be collected, in order to process a cancellation request.
